There is an enhanced (3 out of 5) risk of severe thunderstorms for San Antonio on Monday until 4 P.M. The greatest risks will be large hail up to 3 inches and damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph with an isolated tornado also possible. Beginning at 11 A.M. a line of thunderstorms will form along a cold front in southwest Texas along a cold front and moving northeast toward San Antonio. At 10:48 A.M. there was a severe thunderstorm near Pearsall with 2 inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts moving northeast at 20 mph and a severe thunderstorm near Concan with half dollar size hail and 60 mph wind gusts also moving northeast at 20 mph. Plan to take shelter Monday afternoon until 8 P.M. and monitor alerts on WeatherWiseSA in case severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings are issued. In addition to threats from large hail and debris from high winds, remember that lighting is the leading weather-related killer and that if you can hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lighting. Be safe, and stay WeatherWise!
