A Flood Watch is in effect for San Antonio from 3 P.M. Wednesday May 1st until 7 A.M. Thursday morning due to excessive rainfall from scattered thunderstorms expected to develop Wednesday afternoon. Humid, unstable air combined with upper level wind shear will make conditions favorable for strong thunderstorms to develop dumping up to 5 inches of rain at a time in isolated locations and increasing the risk of flash flooding. Continue to monitor WeatherWiseSA to check if a Flood Warning is issued and follow tips from our flash flood flyer such as exiting low-lying areas and seeking higher ground on how to stay safe.

There is a Slight Risk for Severe Thunderstorms in San Antonio Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Humid, unstable air combined with strong upper-level wind shear will make conditions favorable for some severe storms to form with the highest threat being damaging winds, but hail and tornadoes can't be ruled out. Follow updates on WeatherWiseSA to be notified if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued so you can take immediate action to find shelter.

A stormy pattern is expected to continue throughout the week and weekend and flooding will continue to be a threat as rainfall totals increase. Be sure to monitor WeatherWiseSA and be prepared and aware of all threats in your area.
